Founded in 1926, the Glen Dale Volunteer Fire Department provides fire and medical first response services within the City of Glen Dale and periodically assists neighboring fire departments within Marshall County. The fire department is largely volunteer, although there are paid firefighters on duty during the weekdays. The fire department is made up entirely of volunteers during evening and weekend hours.

The Glen Dale VFD is open to inquiries from individuals interested in becoming members.
