Glen Dale offers residents and visitors several recreational opportunities and amenities.
The City maintains and operates Glen Dale City Park at 601 Tomlinson Avenue. The city park includes a full-sized swimming pool, basketball court, picnic tables, playground equipment, and an outdoor shelter with full kitchen and restroom facilities that seats 150 people. The city park is where the veteran’s memorial is located.
A small park featuring playground equipment is located on 3rd Street serves as a neighborhood park for the northern part of the city.
St. Jude Park is privately owned and used by many Glen Dale residents. The park offers multiple picnic facilities (including a full kitchen), restrooms, and several baseball and softball fields. The park also has space for football practices.
The Glen Dale to Moundsville Rail-Trail starts at Fokker Field in Glen Dale and runs south 3.4 miles to Moundsville’s Riverfront Park. The trail is asphalt and can be used for walking, running, bicycling, and is accessible for persons with disabilities.
John Marshall High School features tennis courts and an outdoor basketball court that can be utilized by the public.
Glen Dale is the home to several annual recreational events including the Knights of Columbus Irish Road Bowling Festival which attracts hundreds of participants and spectators and the Ohio Valley Soap Box Derby youth racing program.
Recreation Board
The Glen Dale Recreation Board is responsible for overseeing the city parks, including the municipal pool. Applications to rent the shelter at the city park can be submitted online or at the City Building.
Reservations for swim parties must be made at the pool. Pool rentals require a completed application and deposit. Fees are based on length of rental and number of attendees.
